What is Breathwork?

 

The term “Breathwork” covers many different styles of breathing practices - Somatic, Shamanic, Conscious-connected, Transformational and Neurodynamic to name just a few.

The different techniques are similar in that they encourage the individual to become aware and focus on the breath.

Pranayama is believed to be the original breathwork. The Sanskrit word Pranayama comes from ‘Prana’-life energy and ‘Ayama’ -to extend. The practice of Pranayama dates back over 5000 years to ancient India and the origins of yoga.

For us, Breathwork is very much about switching off the 'I know' mind....the ego, the monkey mind.....the part that doesn't tend to say nice things to ourselves and  judges others. Through certain breathing techniques, we can quieten the part that's very good at keeping us stuck in our past, future, FEAR, and out of FLOW.

How do we Breathe during Breathwork?

 

Whether it's an in-person, face to face, or a Zoom session, an explanation on how to breathe will be offered prior.

You may choose to lie or be seated. The music starts and the breathwork begins.

Energy builds within you.

We will guide and encourage you to release any stagnant emotions that your body maybe holding onto.

We also encourage you to let go of any self limiting beliefs....you will be guided and we will be guided by you as to what seems to be present in your current life situation that is holding you back or keeping you stuck.
